BET Revamps...But Not Where It Counts

Yesterday evening I caught a glimpse of BET's 106 & Park and noticed something a little different.

Hosts Terrence and Rocsi were doing their usual goofing but the backdrop seemed different. Originally I thought they must still be on location (New Orleans) but come to find out they were home and on their 'newly designed high-tech' set! Shut Up!

Yes, the hosts of the "number 1 music countdown show on television" are celebrating their one year anniversary at the helm. And what better way than with a brand spanking new studio to show up to for work everyday. Here is what BET wants us to know about the new set.

The new wireless studio comes fully equipped with a 16X9 multi-image video wall, computer base, three new talent entrances, a dynamic stage and much more. Designed with flexibility, the modular set will allow maximum variation while providing a high level of interaction--bringing fans near and far closer to the 106 & PARK experience.

The duo showed highlights of their inaugural year which included clips of Janet Jackson feeding Terrence strawberries as well as Beyonce showing Rocsi some dance moves to celebrate their milestone.

Isn't this just GREAT!

BET has the time and money to revamp the set of an already successful music video driven show yet continues to insult the intelligence of black America with their mindless game show called Take The Cake!

I had the misfortune of turning to BET last night only to catch the game show hosts encouraging folks to text away if you know who sported the different bling medalions showed in a series of photos. The answers being Snoop Dogg, Chamillionaire and Lil' Jon.

Food for thought: With game shows like Deal or No Deal, Jeopardy and Who Wants to be a Millionaire (all offering trivia for big bucks) in existence is this the only kind of game show BET feels black America can relate to?
