Stand up comedian, turned actor, D.L. Hughley, has a new comedy special in the works entitled 'Unapologetic', set to debut on HBO, Saturday, September 22nd.
In addition, Hughley is kicking off a natonwide stand-up tour of 25 cities on October 4th which will start, in of all places, Trenton, NJ.
Hughley is clearly trying to stir up some drama not only with the title of this tour but kicking it off in Trenton where most folks probably are still not feeling him.
You may recall earlier this year when during the heat of all the Don Imus 'nappy-headed ho' controversy Hughley appeared on The Tonight Show saying, "They were some of the ugliest women I've seen in my whole life." Catch the clip:
This of course enraged black folks who felt Hughley was not only affirming Imus' bad joke but was making too light of a serious situation.
Hughley since has not apologized for his comment and in a recent interview [click here] with EURweb.com's Kam Williams, explains 'it was just a joke'. And goes on to say,
"..if you look at what I said, I still hold to the fact that I personally don't know a lot of attractive female basketball players."
Wow. I think Hughley is just trying to stir up some isht with these comments just to get some buzz for the show and tour. The only problem is, I don't think most of us black folks care.
