Black Monday: Is Pakistani The New Black?

The series premiere of 'Aliens in America' is tonight on CW11.

The show about a Pakistani ex-change student (played by Adhir Kalyan) residing in the home of a white family from Wisconsin premieres tonight at 8:30 pm following Everybody Hates Chris and preceding Girlfriends.

Was I the only person thinking a black show was going to replace All of Us that held this same timeslot last season? Or was the notion of having a whole night of primetime dedicated just to black sitcoms too much for CW11 execs to accept when the switch was made from UPN?

I suspect this is the first step being taken by the network to phase out Black Monday. This is no different than what's going on in Harlem right now. Black people move out, but only white people seem to move in. Next thing you know, Harlem will be no more black than.....CBS!

Although the show has already gotten favorable reviews, I doubt I will be tuning in, even with CW11's sneaky ploy of placing this show between two of my favotire black sitcoms.

But this does prompt one to ask the question?

Has 9/11 and the prejudices now faced by Pakistanians, Afghans, etc. made them the new black?
