So last week NBC went 'green' in an all out campaign focused on entertaining, informing and giving viewers the knowledge to lead 'greener' lives.
I have to admit I have a lot of respect for NBC for taking on this worthy cause for one reason and one reason alone. Global Warming!
As I sit here in New York City on this 12th day of November in a pair of jeans, a light cotton button front and an even lighter jacket it has become increasingly obvious that this whole Global Warming thing is for real. Normally this time of year, I would be layered in everything from long johns to a triple goose down North Face!
Last week I watched as the NBC's Today Show anchors Matt Lauer, Al Roker and Ann Curry were all shipped off to different corners of the world to take a closer look at the effects global warming has had on regions such as the North and South Pole and the Equator. In addition, NBC strategically roped this green theme in a number of it's programming including The Bionic Woman, My Name Is Earl and even during the daytime on it's popular soap, Days Of Our Lives.
Impressed by NBC's iniative, I thought to join in on the campaign.
So this week will be GREEN ON TV Week where each day I will provide one tip from the 'Green is Universal' campaign on what you can do to help in reducing greenhouse gases which ultimately is responsible for our 'warming' planet. All tips shared can be found on NBC's green site by clicking here.
In addition, this week BONTV will be featuring blacks on NBC programming only.
Today's green tip: Take a shorter shower. In doing so you will save water and the energy it takes to heat it which in turn reduces carbon dioxide emissions.
Now, make it short but still get all the important parts now. We need a greener earth not a smelly one.
