Vanessa Williams is 'Ugly' Betty!

If you ask me Vanessa Williams puts the ugly in Ugly Betty.

(Williams looking far from ugly at last month's SAG Awards)

Not Amerika, or Judith Light or even newcomer, Rebecca Romijn. No hate to these actresses because the entire cast really is talented. But when Vanessa is on the screen, everybody else seems to fade to...well u know.

I have to confess it was her character that made me give this show a try in the first place. And now like over 30 million other Americans....I too am hooked!

But while watching last night's episode though I couldnt help but recall where have I seen Vanessa or should I say Wilhelmina before? And then it dawned on me. The role of angry career-driven black woman (ACDBW) seems to be Vanessa's forte. Yall remember 'Soul Food' where she plays Teri the ultimate ACDBW. Or what about 'A Diva's Christmas Carol' where she plays Ebony Scrooge. Now if you ask me..I think Wilhelmina and Ebony are one in the same.

(Wilhelmina aka ACDBW)

But I aint mad! Our white brothers and sisters are known for making their career on TV just the same. I mean look at Heather Locklear. That chick should be given an Emmy just for be able to snag the role of the same character in about 15 different primetime shows. But I digress.

So all this got me to thinking about my script that I am currently working on. And funny enough there is a character who fits the bill of the angry black career driven woman and guess who I think would be best casted for the part?

Vanessa if you reading this..have your peeps reach out to my peeps. In 2008 when my show hits it big and Ugly Betty starts looking more and more pretty.....you might wanna make the jump.

Writing Critique: Last night's episode was good. I have to give the writers of this show credit because this show is anything but predictable. Don't you hate a show where you can guess whats going to happen by the end of the season? Well this is definitely not one of them. I was sure the mystery of the wrapped woman was going to remain as such until the season finale. But we already know the identity and story of the wrapped mummy and the show hasnt lost any of its flair. If I had to guess why I would say it is probably because they have very strong sub-plots (Betty's illegal immigrant father) and very entertaining runners (Betty's gay nephew).

If you missed it? Check it out here.
