Sunday I was able to watch CBS' detective, clue finding, shoot 'em up, bang bang, missing person/murder mystery, drama series,Without A Trace.
With all the detective, clue finding, shoot 'em up, bang bang, missing person/murder mystery, drama series on TV right now, it's hard to keep up. But only one of these shows cast the black, tough, "no-nonsense" investigator, Vivian Johnson(Marianna Jean-Baptiste).
While Marianna Jean-Baptiste may be from England, don't get it twisted, Vivian is very much a New Yawker!
I like this chick! In fact, she really is the highlight of the show for me. Though at times she sounds more like My Cousin Vinny's very Italian, Marisa Tomei than a sista from NYC. But kudos to her for giving us the New "Yawk" dialect each week. Certain words like call and coffee is not easy to say each week with a New York tongue.
But our favorite Brit, Viv, seem to "tawk" it up just fine.
This week's episode was weak. The story line was sappy and the ending was very anti-climatic. The writers of this particular episode got lazy in my opinion.
Pinning the murder on someone black (even if the snitch was someone white) is easy and is done all the time on TV. I need you guys to get more creative the next time.
On another note, as I watched the credits roll I noticed former ER'sDr. Peter Benton (Eriq La Salle)was the director of last night's ep. He appeared on the show last year and now is directing episodes. Good Look!
