Williams and Fishburne Go From Temp To Full-Time

Who say's we are in a recession? Black folks are finding permanent jobs left and right on TV everyday!

Fresh off his one-man Broadway show "Thurgood", Laurence Fishburne landed his first full-time gig as he is set to replace William Petersen on CBS' CSI.

While not much details, including the name, has been determined, Fishburne had this to say about the character:

"It's very difficult for me to describe him since I don't have much to go on,...We know he was a pathologist, and he was kind of [pushed] out of that area; he became a lecturer and something in his background makes him a perfect candidate to become a CSI."

Fishburne will begin filming in mid-September as his character will be introduced in the ninth and 10th episode of the new season.

CSI can be seen on Thursdays, at 9:00 PM et/pt. For more on this click [here].

And Laurence Fishburne isn't the only one who can expect a regular pay check from TV. According to the NY Post, WBLS radio talk show host turn TV talk show host, Wendy Williams' new show, "The Wendy Williams Show" is going national.

It seems the show faired very well in ratings during it's six week trial pulling 'solid' numbers amongst it's core target audience, young women.

"Everything about the Wendy preview clicked for our stations, from conception to promotion to hitting the air," said Fox TV Stations programming exec VP Frank Cicha.

I have to admit, I didn't think this show would last. But after seeing her cat fight with bitchy guest Omarosa, it made me start to think otherwise. Folks love this kind of mess!

The Wendy Williams show will run on Channel 5 here in the New York city area in mid-2009. Check your local listing for time slot in your area.
