My 'Hell Date' with BET!

Yesterday was the debut of BET's Hell Date. And after a half hour of watching that 'hot ghetto mess', I felt as though I was the one on a 'hell date' that turned out to be a prank!

BET's attempt to give us a combination of MTV's Punk'd and Next was not a good look. It was not funny at all and to be honest I didn't believe for one second that the two individuals on their 'hell date' had no idea this was a prank.

BET is good for trying to scam their audience. We all know that 106 & Park is rigged as they are not really tallying votes to determine where music videos fall on their countdown.

Anyhoo...

The show opens with hell date #1 where we meet a brother who goes on his blind date and is pleased when this honey (bad actress) answers the door. Immediately the bad acting begins as she flirts very openly with him in front of the cameras. She goes on to excite him even more by telling him she's dabbled in soft porn and that she has a twin sister insinuating they could close the date with a menage a trois.

Long story short, the twin sister is revealed after the bad actress gets the brother all hot and horny and she ends up looking more like Mo'Nique's twin sister vs. his date. After 2 minutes of pretending to be shocked a little person dressed in a red Devil's costume appears and this is when it is revealed that the date was a hoax.

So BET felt this show of the 5 new shows that are set to premiere this week was worthy for viewing. Wow! The team charged with programming over at BET should all be fired for this one. Real Talk!

What the 'Hell' is going on at BET?

When Viacom (parent company to MTV and VH-1) acquired BET (Boring Entertainment Television) some years ago, I just knew BET was in for an extreme makeover like no other.

But clearly that wasn't the case!

Tonight is the premiere of Hell Date. The prank/date show will air tonight at 7:30 PM (ET/CT) and subsequently weeknights at the same time.

The premise of the show: Women and men alike in search of the perfect date will be set up on a blind date with someone who meets the criterias of their dreams. Or so they think. Truth is it will be an actor ready to take them on a date from 'hell'.

Note to BET: It's time to step up! VH-1 and MTV are already in the business of showing black people making fools of themselves. So if you are going to follow suit then you need to come with it!
